Mohammed Abu Fani Confirms Staying with Red Star Belgrade Amid Transfer Rumors

Mohammed Abu Fani, the Israeli midfielder currently playing for Red Star Belgrade, has dismissed recent rumors about a possible return to the Israeli Premier League, potentially to Maccabi Haifa. On Sunday, Abu Fani told those close to him that he intends to remain with the Serbian champions. He expressed confusion over the swirling speculation about his future and stated that no Israeli club has contacted him so far.

Abu Fani is expected to participate in his first training session under Red Star's new head coach, Albert Riera, who replaced Dejan Stankovic, the coach who initially brought the Israeli international to Belgrade. Despite Abu Fani's commitment to stay, Serbian football sources told Walla Sport that several key players might be released from the squad in the coming weeks following Red Star's elimination by Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers. However, no decisions have been made yet regarding which players will leave, with the new coach Riera expected to play a significant role in those choices.
