Red Star Belgrade Considers Selling Israeli Midfielder Mohammed Abu Fani After Coach's Departure

Mohammed Abu Fani, who signed with Serbian club Red Star Belgrade last summer, may soon be transferred as the club is reportedly dissatisfied with his performance. According to Serbian media outlet Mundo, Abu Fani was a key signing by former coach Dejan Stankovic, who was recently dismissed. However, Abu Fani failed to meet expectations during critical moments, particularly in two matches against Israel's Hapoel Be'er Sheva, where he was substituted at halftime in the first game and received a red card just 26 minutes into the second.

Red Star paid 1.5 million euros for Abu Fani, but the club's new coach, Albert Riera, will decide his future. Serbian reports suggest the club is open to letting him go, especially following Stankovic's exit, which is seen as the main reason for Abu Fani's transfer. Several Israeli clubs are reportedly interested and ready to act quickly if Abu Fani becomes available before the transfer window closes.

If sold, Abu Fani's tenure at Red Star would be one of the shortest in the club's 80-year history. His transfer is viewed as collateral damage from the coaching change, as it likely would not have occurred had Stankovic remained in charge.
