Belgian Winger Thibo Baeten Eyes Move to Maccabi Tel Aviv as Talks Continue

Maccabi Tel Aviv is actively pursuing Belgian winger Thibo Baeten as part of their squad strengthening efforts. According to Dutch media reports, Maccabi submitted an initial offer to Baeten's current club, Go Ahead Eagles, but it was rejected. Despite this, negotiations remain ongoing to reach an agreement. The Israeli cup holders are reportedly interested in acquiring Baeten on loan, potentially including a purchase option that could become mandatory based on agreed conditions between the clubs.

Go Ahead Eagles have not been convinced by the first proposal but have not ruled out a transfer to Israel. A key factor favoring Maccabi is Baeten's own desire to move to Israel and play for the yellow team, which could help facilitate the deal. However, no final agreement has been reached, and any new offer must be acceptable to Go Ahead Eagles.

Baeten, 26, is contracted with Go Ahead Eagles until summer 2029, giving the Dutch club leverage in negotiations. Primarily a left winger, Baeten gained recognition during his time at Beerschot, where he returned in 2023 after a successful loan spell. He has made 32 appearances for Antwerp, scoring 14 goals and providing three assists. Baeten also spent time in Club Brugge's youth system and played for their reserve team, Club NXT, but did not break into the senior squad. Internationally, he has represented Belgium at youth levels but has yet to receive a senior national team call-up.
