Maccabi Tel Aviv Pursues Belgian Winger Thibo Batten in Loan Deal Talks
Maccabi Tel Aviv is actively negotiating to acquire 24-year-old Belgian winger Thibo Batten from Dutch club Go Ahead Eagles. According to Dutch outlet VI, Maccabi has made an initial loan offer with a mandatory purchase option, but Go Ahead Eagles rejected the first proposal. Negotiations are ongoing, and Batten himself is reportedly eager to move to Israel.
Batten, who plays on the left wing, stands 1.85 meters tall and joined Go Ahead Eagles in summer 2023. He was loaned to Dutch second division side Roda during the season and returned to Go Ahead Eagles last season, making 20 league appearances with one goal and three assists. Earlier in 2023, Batten played for Belgian club Beerschot, where Maccabi scout head Steven Vanhaeren was previously involved, suggesting a prior connection that could facilitate the transfer.
Maccabi Tel Aviv continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season, with Batten considered a strong target. The club's persistence in negotiations indicates their intent to finalize the deal soon.
