Maccabi Tel Aviv Pursues Belgian Winger Thibo Batten in Loan Deal Talks

Maccabi Tel Aviv is actively negotiating to acquire 24-year-old Belgian winger Thibo Batten from Dutch club Go Ahead Eagles. According to Dutch outlet VI, Maccabi has submitted an initial loan offer with a mandatory purchase option, which Go Ahead Eagles rejected, but discussions between the clubs are ongoing. Batten himself is reportedly eager to move to Israel.

Batten, who plays on the left wing, joined Go Ahead Eagles in summer 2023 and was later loaned to Dutch second division side Roda. Last season, he made 20 league appearances for Go Ahead Eagles, scoring one goal and providing three assists. Earlier in 2023, Batten played for Belgian club Beerschot, where he had previously worked with Steven Vanhaeren, who served as head of scouting there. This prior connection may facilitate renewed collaboration between Batten and Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Maccabi Tel Aviv continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the upcoming season, with Batten viewed as a key target. The negotiations are expected to proceed as both clubs seek a mutually agreeable arrangement.
