Israeli Election Committee Orders Temporary Removal of Netanyahu Video Featuring Children

The chairman of Israel's Central Election Committee, Judge Noam Solberg, issued a temporary order to remove a video posted by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that included children, citing a violation of election law. The video, published on Netanyahu's social media accounts on August 3, 2026, showed the Prime Minister interacting with visitors, including many children, during a visit to the Malha Mall in Jerusalem.

Attorney and CPA Yaron Meiri petitioned the committee, arguing that the video breached Section 2C of the Election Law, which explicitly prohibits the use of children under 15 in election propaganda unless they are engaged in routine activities. Meiri requested an interim injunction to remove the video pending the petition's outcome.

Judge Solberg granted the interim injunction, ordering the video removed from all social media accounts. He clarified that the video could be reposted if all segments showing children in personal contact with Netanyahu were removed. The petition remains under review, with further deliberations to follow after receiving responses from the Prime Minister and the Likud party.
