Israeli Election Committee Orders Netanyahu to Remove Video Featuring Children from Social Media

The chairman of Israel's Central Election Committee, Judge Noam Solberg, issued a temporary order requiring Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to remove a video from social media that featured children. The video was recorded during Netanyahu's visit last Tuesday to the Malha Mall in Jerusalem and showed him interacting with numerous visitors, including many children. The order followed an urgent petition filed by attorney and CPA Yaron Meiri, who argued that the video violated election law by including minors in election propaganda. Specifically, Section 2C of the Election Law prohibits the use of children under 15 in election propaganda, except in routine activities.

Judge Solberg ruled that the video must be taken down but allowed it to be reposted after editing out the segments showing children. The petition against Netanyahu and the Likud party will continue to be reviewed until a final decision is made, following official responses from both Netanyahu and Likud. Meanwhile, the video has been removed from social media in compliance with the temporary injunction. This development is part of the ongoing preparations and legal scrutiny ahead of the 2026 elections in Israel.
