Two Arrested for Throwing Explosive Grenades at Jafnika Restaurant in Kiryat Ono

The Tel Aviv District Attorney's Office has filed charges against two men, 22-year-old Nataniel Avodi and 18-year-old Nahorai Chabaz, residents of Bat Yam, for throwing explosive grenades at a Jafnika restaurant branch in Kiryat Ono about a month ago. According to the indictment, the two conspired to carry out the attack, arriving at the restaurant late at night on electric bicycles with grenades. At the time, one employee was inside the restaurant and two others were nearby.

The suspects repeatedly threw grenades at the restaurant until one exploded, causing damage to the restaurant and nearby shops. They then fled the scene. The charges include aggravated assault, damage using explosives, and carrying weapons. Avodi also faces obstruction of justice charges for initially providing false statements and later remaining silent during the investigation.

The prosecution has requested that both suspects be held in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings, citing their audacity and determination in carrying out the attack despite the presence of employees. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and the suspects' conduct during the investigation has increased concerns about their dangerousness.

This case follows other recent violent incidents involving Jafnika branches, including a fire at a Netanya location. The investigation and trial are ongoing.
