Two Suspects Charged After Repeated Grenade Attack on Jafnika Branch in Kiryat Ono

On July 13, two masked suspects repeatedly threw a fragmentation grenade at a Jafnika branch in Kiryat Ono until it finally exploded. Surveillance footage shows the suspects, riding an electric bicycle, throwing the grenade three times because it failed to detonate on the first two attempts. One suspect even picked up the unexploded grenade and threw it again, leading to the explosion. The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. outside the store, causing property damage but no injuries.

Following the attack, the Tel Aviv District Central Unit launched an investigation. Using technological means, investigators identified the suspects as two young men aged 18 and 22 from Bat Yam. They were arrested days later, and evidence including clothing linked them to the crime was found during searches of their homes. The police suspect the attack was related to ongoing criminal conflicts and recent violence affecting Jafnika branches nationwide. The chain's owner, Barak Abramov, is not suspected of any involvement.

The two suspects are scheduled to be indicted on Thursday. Earlier on the same day, they were also charged along with a 19-year-old from Lod for arson at an event hall in Tiberias. The investigation and legal proceedings are ongoing.
