Extreme Heatwave Persists Across Israel With Red Alerts in Several Regions

Israel is experiencing intense heatwave conditions with extreme heat warnings issued across much of the country. On Tuesday, temperatures remain significantly above average, dry in the mountains and inland areas, and cooler along the coastal plain. Skies are mostly clear, but heavy to extreme heat burdens will continue in most regions.

A slight temperature drop is expected on Wednesday, mainly in the mountains and inland, though conditions will still be hotter than usual and dry there, with pleasant weather along the coast. Despite this, heavy to extreme heat will persist nationwide. Thursday will see another mild temperature decrease, especially inland and in the mountains, with partly cloudy skies but continued above-average heat and dryness in those areas and cooler coastal conditions. Heat stress warnings remain in effect.

The Meteorological Service has issued a red heat alert for the Arava region, valid all day. Additional red alerts cover the Beit She'an Valley, Kinneret Basin, Jordan Valley, northern and southern Judean Desert, and the Dead Sea. Orange alerts apply to southern Golan, eastern Lower Galilee, Hula Valley, Jezreel Valley, northern and western Negev, eastern and southern Negev, and the Eilat mountains. Yellow alerts cover eastern Upper Galilee, western Lower Galilee, Carmel, coastal plains, Shfela, central mountains, northern Samaria, parts of the Judean Desert, northwestern Negev, and the Negev mountains.

The Mediterranean Sea is also affected, with a yellow warning for high and dangerous waves up to 70-100 centimeters until 10:00 AM. Temperatures across key cities include Jerusalem at 24-33°C, Tel Aviv at 26-33°C, Haifa at 26-33°C, Kiryat Shmona at 25-38°C, Tiberias at 25-39°C, Beersheba at 23-37°C, and Eilat reaching up to 40°C.

Residents are advised to take precautions against heat stress as the extreme heat conditions are expected to continue for several days.
