Netanya Stadium Renovation Project Approved with Over 100 Million Shekels Budget

The Netanya "Miriam" Stadium, a key venue in Israeli football, is set for a major renovation that will significantly increase its seating capacity. The project, approved by Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar, involves adding two new stands, doubling the stadium's current capacity from around 13,000 to approximately 26,000 seats. The total cost of the renovation is expected to exceed 100 million shekels.

Minister Zohar confirmed that a formal call for expansion proposals will soon be issued for stadiums in Netanya and Petah Tikva. However, the project’s momentum will pick up only after the upcoming elections, once the next sports minister is confirmed. Zohar expressed optimism about the project's future, stating he hopes to remain in office but does not believe his successor will halt the plans.

Netanya Mayor Avi Salama described the renovation plans, highlighting that the stadium will become an oval, fully enclosed structure with a capacity reaching about 30,000 spectators. He emphasized the stadium's importance to the community and the local football club Maccabi Netanya, calling it "one of the highest standard stadiums in the country." The renovation aims to transform the stadium into one of Israel’s largest and most impressive sports venues.

The project reflects a significant investment in Israeli sports infrastructure, promising enhanced facilities and a better experience for fans and players alike. The timeline for construction and completion will become clearer after the political transition in the sports ministry.
