Petah Tikva Stadium Set for Expansion to Over 12,500 Seats by Next Season

The "Shlomo Insurance" Stadium in Petah Tikva, home to the city's two football teams Maccabi Petah Tikva and Hapoel Petah Tikva, is undergoing a significant expansion. Petah Tikva Mayor Rami Greenberg told Sport 5 that plans are advancing to add between 2,500 and 3,000 new seats to the current 10,000-seat capacity, aiming for a total of approximately 12,500 to 13,000 seats. The project, expected to cost over 10 million shekels, is currently in the planning and approval stages, with construction permits in place and a tender to be issued once planning is complete. The timeline targets completion within six months, allowing the stadium to be fully operational by the start of the next football season.

Greenberg also highlighted the broader development of the surrounding area, describing it as a large sports complex that includes training fields used by thousands of youth, facilities for artistic gymnastics, and the relocation of the Olympic Committee. The site benefits from excellent transportation infrastructure, including proximity to the light rail, metro, and heavy rail lines, as well as a new interchange on Highway 4 and significant road investments exceeding 1.2 billion shekels. While the southern stand is not expected to have a roof, the overall upgrades aim to enhance accessibility and the sporting environment in Petah Tikva.

This expansion aligns with ongoing improvements in Israeli football stadiums, alongside projects in Ashdod and Netanya, reflecting a broader trend of modernizing sports venues across the country.
