Ashdod's New 20,000-Seat Stadium Nears Completion Ahead of September Opening

Ashdod is set to unveil a state-of-the-art football stadium with a capacity of approximately 20,000 seats, built to UEFA's highest standards. The project, valued at around 430 million shekels, is nearing completion with final touches underway, including the installation of seats in red, yellow, black, and white, and the planting of a hybrid grass pitch expected by late November. Construction is led by Ken HaTor Engineering and Building, with project management by Gal Ruach, who emphasized the complexity and scale of the work involving hundreds of professionals and advanced engineering solutions.

The stadium features sophisticated concrete and steel structures, advanced roofing with decorative "scales," and a cutting-edge lighting system designed to provide uniform illumination suitable for high-quality broadcasts. The venue is located in Lachish Park and will replace the old 11 Stadium in Ashdod's Aleph district, which will be redeveloped into a residential neighborhood.

This new stadium is part of a larger sports complex that includes a 5,000-seat arena and an Olympic swimming pool, complementing existing training facilities. The project aims to deliver a world-class sports venue that will serve as a source of pride for the city, its football club, and fans for many years to come. The stadium is expected to be ready for hosting matches by the end of November, following the completion of infrastructure and turf installation in the coming months.
