Teddy Stadium Undergoes Major Renovation to Improve Playing Surface

Work has commenced on upgrading the playing surface at Jerusalem's Teddy Stadium, a project expected to cost approximately NIS 2 million. The renovation aims to transform the current grass pitch into a hybrid system, incorporating heating lamps to ensure optimal conditions regardless of weather. This upgrade is necessary because the existing turf does not consistently receive adequate sunlight during matches.

In parallel, training facilities at Givat Ram and Beit Vagan are being expanded to meet standard dimensions. These larger pitches will accommodate youth team games, thereby reducing the strain on Teddy Stadium.

Both Beitar Jerusalem and Hapoel Jerusalem were informed in early 2026 that they would not be able to open their 2026/27 season at Teddy Stadium due to the pitch renovation. The teams are slated to return to playing at the stadium after the international break, during the sixth matchday, when Hapoel Jerusalem hosts Maccabi Haifa on October 10th. In the seventh matchday, Beitar Jerusalem will face Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Meanwhile, Beitar Jerusalem is scheduled to play Maccabi Petah Tikva at Bloomfield Stadium on Tuesday, with the Teddy Stadium upgrades happening concurrently.
