Netanya Stadium Renovation Project Approved with Over 100 Million Shekels Budget

The Netanya "Miriam" Stadium, a key venue in Israeli football, is set for a major renovation that will significantly increase its seating capacity. The project, approved by Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar, involves adding two new stands to the stadium, doubling its current capacity from approximately 13,000 to around 26,000 seats. The total cost of the renovation is expected to exceed 100 million shekels.

Minister Zohar confirmed that a formal call for bids to expand the stadiums in Netanya and Petah Tikva will be issued soon. However, the project’s momentum will pick up only after the upcoming elections, once the next sports minister is confirmed. Zohar expressed hope that even if he is not reappointed, the new minister will not halt the project.

Netanya Mayor Avi Salama described the plan to transform the stadium into an oval, fully enclosed arena with a capacity of about 30,000 spectators. He emphasized the stadium’s importance to the community and the local football club Maccabi Netanya, calling it "one of the highest-level stadiums in the country." The renovation aims to make the stadium one of Israel’s most impressive sports venues.

The project reflects the municipality’s commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure and supporting local teams, with the upgraded stadium expected to boost the city’s profile in Israeli football.
