Israeli Border Police Chase and Arrest Two Suspects After Checkpoint Breach in East Jerusalem

Israeli Border Police forces in East Jerusalem apprehended two suspects after a vehicle chase that began when the suspects refused to stop at the Hizma checkpoint. The incident occurred as the suspects, one a Jerusalem resident and the other an illegal resident from Hebron, attempted to flee after the police signaled them to halt for inspection. During the escape, the suspects' car ran over spike strips deployed by the police and collided with a civilian vehicle.

The suspects' initial vehicle, believed to be stolen, was later found in the Beit Hanina neighborhood of East Jerusalem. Following the spike strip deployment, joint forces from the Jerusalem Border Police and the surrounding area launched a pursuit and search operation. The two suspects were eventually located driving a different car near the entrance to the Issawiya neighborhood and were taken into custody.

The police confirmed that the driver is a Jerusalem resident suspected of transporting the second suspect, who is an illegal resident from Hebron. Both individuals were transferred to the Border Police's Investigation and Intelligence Division in the Jerusalem area for further questioning. This operation highlights ongoing security efforts at checkpoints in East Jerusalem to prevent unauthorized movement and criminal activity.
