Stolen Vehicle Crashes Through Checkpoints in West Bank, Injuring Civilian and Border Guard
On Tuesday evening, a stolen vehicle broke through a checkpoint at the Tzofim crossing in the West Bank, injuring a civilian. Security forces and a civilian tracking team had set up to stop the suspected stolen car when the Arab driver rammed the checkpoint and struck a bystander. The suspect then fled on foot toward Qalqilya after abandoning the vehicle several hundred meters away. The injured civilian was taken to Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba with limb injuries. Security forces launched a manhunt to locate the suspect, and the circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
Simultaneously, Border Police officers near Jerusalem arrested a driver from the Shuafat refugee camp who attempted to breach the Hizma checkpoint. The driver ignored orders to stop, tried to escape at high speed, but was stopped after officers deployed spike strips. During the incident, a Border Police officer sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment. Three illegal residents from Judea and Samaria were found in the vehicle. The driver and the three passengers were detained and transferred to the Oz station in the Jerusalem district for further investigation.
