Security Alert in West Bank Settlement Ends with Arrest of Suspected Stolen Vehicle Driver

A security alert was triggered on Saturday morning in the West Bank settlement of Ofra after a stolen vehicle broke through a checkpoint during a police pursuit. The suspect exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, prompting security forces to respond swiftly. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), a security officer at the scene carried out a suspect arrest procedure that included firing shots toward the individual. The suspect was apprehended and handed over to the Judea and Samaria police district for further investigation. The IDF confirmed the incident concluded without any ongoing security threat.

Separately, overnight security forces conducted searches near Kibbutz Zikim in the Gaza envelope following a report of a cut in the settlement's fence. The IDF spokesperson stated no suspects were found and it was unclear when the fence was breached. The forces continued to inspect the area to rule out any unusual activity. The IDF also noted there was no known crossing from Gaza into Israel, and after nearly two hours, normal routine was restored at the kibbutz.
