Israeli Police Arrest Three Palestinians After Dangerous Car Chase Near Jericho

Three Palestinian suspects, including two adults and a minor, were arrested following a police chase that began on Highway 1 and ended near Jericho on Wednesday. The driver, who never obtained a driving license, committed multiple serious traffic violations, broke through police roadblocks, and struck officers and police vehicles during the pursuit.

The incident started when police in the Judea and Samaria district ordered a vehicle to stop near the Jericho lookout due to dangerous overtaking maneuvers that endangered other road users. Instead of stopping, the driver fled, running red lights, breaking through police barriers, and hitting a female officer who required medical treatment. Police launched a search and located the vehicle near Jericho about an hour later.

Upon spotting the officers, the driver again attempted to escape, driving recklessly, endangering others, breaking through additional police checkpoints, hitting police vehicles, and attempting to run over an officer. Police, fearing for their lives, fired shots at the vehicle, which then stopped. Two officers sustained minor injuries and were treated. The three suspects, residents of Luban al-Sharqiya and Qabalan, were detained, with one injured suspect receiving medical care. Police confirmed the driver never held a license. The investigation into the incident continues.
