Two Suspects Arrested After Vehicle Breaches Hizma Checkpoint and Hits Civilian Car

Border Police officers at the Hizma checkpoint near Jerusalem signaled a suspicious vehicle to stop for inspection, but the driver attempted to flee. During the escape, the vehicle ran over spike strips and collided with a civilian car present at the checkpoint. The incident occurred as the vehicle approached from the West Bank towards Jerusalem. Following the breach, Border Police units from the Jerusalem area launched a pursuit and search operation.

The suspects were located at the entrance to the Issawiya neighborhood in East Jerusalem, traveling in a different vehicle. The driver, a Jerusalem resident, was arrested on suspicion of transporting the second suspect, who is an illegal resident from Hebron. The vehicle used to breach the checkpoint, believed to be stolen, was later found in the Beit Hanina neighborhood. Both suspects were transferred for investigation to the Border Police's Investigation and Intelligence Department in the Jerusalem area.

The Border Police emphasized the coordinated effort between units securing the Jerusalem perimeter and checkpoint forces, which led to the swift apprehension of the suspects following the dangerous attempt to evade security checks.
