Israeli Police Arrest Suspects After Shooting at Power Pole and Threatening Electric Company Workers in Tel Sheva

On Wednesday, Israeli police received reports of gunfire directed at a power pole in the town of Tel Sheva. Shortly after, Israel Electric Corporation workers arrived to repair the damage and restore electricity to local residents. However, while performing their duties, the workers were threatened by suspects who fired at the power pole again and demanded they leave the site to prevent repairs. Due to these threats, the workers ceased their work and left the area.

Following the incident, police launched an investigation and within hours, officers from the Ayarot station, the Tel Sheva municipal police unit, the Special Patrol Unit, and Border Police arrested two suspects from Tel Sheva in their 20s and 30s. They were taken in for further questioning, and the investigation is ongoing. Ayarot station commander Deputy Superintendent Yahav Siman condemned the attack, stating that "harming public infrastructure and threatening public workers performing their duties crosses a red line." He emphasized the police's commitment to act swiftly and decisively against anyone attempting to intimidate, disrupt essential services, or threaten public safety.

Separately, earlier this week, the Southern District Prosecutor's Office filed charges against three residents of Ar'ara in the Negev for weapons offenses and violence linked to a prolonged family feud. The indictment details a high-speed chase during which one suspect fired from a vehicle at another car and at fleeing individuals, later aiming a gun at police officers. The police returned fire, leading to the suspects' arrest. The incident escalated with stone-throwing and gunfire against police from multiple directions, causing a large crowd to gather. One suspect and the driver fled but were later apprehended. Weapons and ammunition were recovered, and one suspect attempted to hinder the investigation by discarding a face covering.

The recent events highlight ongoing security challenges in southern Israel, with authorities actively pursuing those who threaten public safety and infrastructure.
