Israeli Man Indicted for Fatal Shooting During West Bank Land Dispute

Yinon Elia Levi has been formally charged following a deadly confrontation in the West Bank village of Umm al-Khir. According to the indictment, Levi ordered a minor to break through agricultural land owned by local Palestinian residents, disregarding property boundaries and owners' rights. When villagers confronted Levi and the workers, he fired a gun, killing Odeh Alhadalin, who was recording the incident on his mobile phone.

Levi directed his employee to drive an excavator through private farmland and fences, deliberately damaging property despite knowing the land was privately owned. After failing to enter the area on foot, Levi drew a pistol and pointed it at the ground. Villagers approached the excavator to stop it, but the driver ignored them and continued destroying crops and fences. Stones were thrown at the vehicle, but it kept moving aggressively.

Emergency services transported Alhadalin to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, where he was pronounced dead. Levi was arrested and interrogated by Hebron police. On August 6, 2026, the Southern District Prosecutor's Office filed charges against him in the Beersheba District Court for negligent homicide, trespassing, and intentional property damage.
