Israeli Man Charged for Shooting During Violent Clash in Modiin Illit

The Central District Prosecutor's Office filed charges on Thursday against 19-year-old Yitzhak Sibirsky from Modiin Illit for firing a handgun during a violent confrontation involving many participants in the city. The indictment was submitted to the Central District Court in Lod, and prosecutors requested that Sibirsky remain in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings against him.

According to the indictment, the incident occurred on the night of July 4. At 22:27, Sibirsky was at the Kesem Center in Modiin Illit carrying a knife. A large-scale altercation broke out nearby, stemming from a prior dispute. Around 23:09, Sibirsky and another known individual rode a Joyride motorcycle to near 25 Or HaChaim Street in Modiin Illit. There, Sibirsky allegedly fired four shots from a 9mm loaded handgun into the area where many people were involved in the conflict, then fled the scene and later disposed of the weapon.

The charges against Sibirsky include carrying a weapon and ammunition without a permit, illegal firearm discharge in a residential area, and possession of a knife outside his home without lawful justification. He has been in custody since August 17. The prosecution argued for continued detention, citing the dangerous nature of the offenses and the threat he poses to public safety.
