Israeli Man Faces Charges for Attacking Palestinian Shepherd and Running Over Sheep in West Bank
A man in his twenties from Beitar Illit is expected to be indicted following an investigation linking him to eight violent incidents and other offenses over two months. Among the cases is a widely circulated video showing the suspect driving an off-road vehicle into a flock of sheep belonging to a Palestinian shepherd, then assaulting the shepherd. The investigation began after the video surfaced online, along with multiple reports of violent behavior by the suspect.
The case was transferred to the inter-agency command of the Judea and Samaria district, whose investigators identified the suspect and examined the attributed incidents. In July, detectives located the suspect driving a dangerous and unauthorized vehicle, leading to his arrest. His detention was extended for eight days before he was released to house arrest under restrictive conditions and supervision.
Further police work established his involvement in eight separate cases from April and May, including violence against both Israelis and Palestinians, home invasions, and property damage. The key incident involved the suspect driving a "Ranger" off-road vehicle into the sheep and then attacking the Palestinian shepherd who protested. With the investigation complete and evidence compiled, the prosecution plans to file a detailed indictment today, along with requests to keep the suspect in custody throughout the trial and to seize the vehicle used in the offenses.
