Israeli Teen from Beitar Illit Charged with Assaulting Palestinian Woman and Abusing Dog

Israeli police announced that the prosecution will soon file charges against a 16-year-old boy from Beitar Illit for assaulting a Palestinian woman and cruelly abusing a dog. The incident occurred in late May near Masafer Yatta in the southern Hebron Hills and was recorded by local residents. According to police, the teenager arrived in the afternoon with his donkey and began damaging property near several homes. At one point, he forcibly threw a Palestinian woman holding her young child to the ground. He then moved to an open area where he struck a dog violently with a long plastic pipe-like object.

Following the attack and its documentation, an investigation was launched by the inter-agency command of the Judea and Samaria district. Investigators collected evidence and learned the suspect was a teenager from Beitar Illit temporarily residing on a nearby farm. Numerous testimonies were taken, including from the boy’s father. An arrest warrant was issued, and intelligence and detective units collaborated to locate him.

After nearly two months on the run, the teenager was found last Wednesday with his family near Kibbutz Sde Boker in the Negev. He was taken for questioning at the inter-agency command, while his parents were interrogated for obstructing the investigation. Once all investigative steps were completed and sufficient evidence was gathered, the Southern District Attorney’s Office submitted a prosecutorial declaration in preparation for indictment.

Police stated they will continue to use all available means to combat violence against both people and animals, ensuring those involved are arrested and brought to justice.
