Hundreds Attend Funeral of Lt. Colonel Harel Birnstok Killed in South Lebanon

Hundreds gathered at Mount Herzl Cemetery in Jerusalem for the funeral of Lieutenant Colonel Harel Birnstok, who was killed in southern Lebanon. His wife, Elia, delivered a heartfelt eulogy, recalling his encouragement for her to stay strong and promising that their children would grow up in a joyful home filled with dancing and happiness. She also spoke of their son Ziv, expressing how much Harel loved and connected with him, noting his excitement whenever he heard a helicopter.

Harel's mother also spoke at the funeral, reflecting on the dangers he faced. She mentioned the village of Majdal Zun, which Harel had shown her, and expressed her initial disbelief about the threat from what seemed like a quiet village. She admitted to underestimating the danger during Operation Protective Edge but said she had resolved to stay strong. However, the danger persisted, and she described the persistent ringing of the phone that brought the tragic news.
