Sex Offender Impersonating Therapist Arrested at Ben Gurion Airport After 11 Years Abroad

A 50-year-old man convicted of serious sexual offenses against children with cerebral palsy was arrested upon his arrival at Ben Gurion Airport on Wednesday, 11 years after leaving Israel. The police identified him as a "pedophile therapist who impersonated a physiotherapist" and stated he is suspected of committing additional sexual offenses against other children before his departure. The investigation began in 2015 when officers from the Zebulon station opened a case regarding multiple sexual offenses against minors in the Haifa and Krayot areas, committed during the "treatment" provided by the suspect. About a month before the complaint was filed in 2015, the suspect left the country, after which the police declared him wanted for investigation. Upon his return, he was immediately arrested at the airport, interrogated by the Zebulon police in the Haifa district, and subsequently detained. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court today for a remand extension hearing.
