Reserve Medic Tamir Vaknin Killed in Lebanon IED Explosion

Tamir Vaknin, a reserve soldier and medic from Eilat, was killed alongside his platoon commander in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in southern Lebanon. Vaknin, the middle son of Katelina and Shimon, attended Rabin High School in Eilat and was known for his constant readiness to serve in the reserves. His brother Yoav described him as a man who always smiled, cared deeply for his family, and aspired to build a future, even considering a job opportunity in the United States.

Tamir's older brother, David, serves as an officer in the Eilat Combat Engineering Corps and was recently called up for active reserve duty during the fighting in the Gaza envelope. Despite the disruption to his civilian job, David felt compelled to serve. The family and community remember Tamir as a dedicated and good-hearted individual who consistently answered the call to duty. His death marks another loss among the Israel Defense Forces in ongoing security operations in Lebanon.
