Hapoel Tel Aviv Signs Douglas Aveso in Club's Most Expensive Transfer

Hapoel Tel Aviv has officially completed the most expensive signing in its history by acquiring 20-year-old midfielder Douglas Aveso from Red Star Belgrade for 2.2 million euros. Aveso, considered a major talent, can play both as a right winger and in the number 10 role. He is expected to participate in the upcoming Conference League qualifier second leg against Katowice next week.

The transfer fee will be offset against the remaining amount Red Star owes Hapoel Tel Aviv for the earlier sale of Louizos Louizo, who was sold last summer to the Serbian champions for 3 million euros, with approximately 1.4 million euros already paid to Hapoel.

Aveso was purchased by Red Star in January for 2.2 million euros and nearly transferred to Czech club Viktoria Plzen for 3.3 million euros this summer, but the move fell through due to failed medical tests. He was not included in Red Star's squad for their Champions League qualifiers against Hapoel Be'er Sheva.

The Ghanaian player began his career at Ascom FC in his home country before moving to Serbian club Radnik Surdulica in summer 2024. In his first European season, he scored two goals in 32 league matches, and started his second season strongly with seven goals in 20 games, leading to his acquisition by Red Star, where he scored two goals in 12 league appearances last season.
