Hapoel Tel Aviv Nears Record Signing From Red Star Belgrade
Hapoel Tel Aviv is close to completing the most expensive signing in its history, potentially surpassing its previous record sale of Louizos Louizo to Red Star Belgrade. The club is negotiating to acquire winger Douglas Aveso from Red Star for over 2 million euros. Guy Primor is currently abroad finalizing the last details of the deal, although no final agreement has been reached yet.
Douglas Aveso, 20, was purchased by the Serbian champions in January for 2.2 million euros. This summer, he nearly transferred to Czech club Viktoria Plzen for 3.3 million euros but failed the medical tests. Last summer, Hapoel Tel Aviv bought Daniel Dappa from Maccabi Netanya for 1.8 million euros plus bonuses that could total 2 million euros.
Aveso has not been included in Red Star Belgrade's squad for the UEFA Champions League qualifiers against Hapoel Be'er Sheva and has yet to play this season. If he signs soon, he could be registered for the UEFA Conference League playoff stage, provided Hapoel Tel Aviv qualifies.
