Hapoel Tel Aviv Signs Douglas Aveso After Interest From Maccabi Tel Aviv

Hapoel Tel Aviv has finalized the signing of Douglas Aveso from Red Star Belgrade, marking a notable acquisition for the club. Aveso had attracted attention from several top Israeli teams, including city rivals Maccabi Tel Aviv, who monitored him while he played for Serbian club Radnik. Earlier this year, he was offered to Hapoel Be'er Sheva, but they declined due to the high transfer fee. Subsequently, Red Star Belgrade paid 2.2 million euros for him.

This summer, Aveso was also proposed to Maccabi Haifa, but they opted against taking a risk on the young player given his steep price tag. A potential move to Viktoria Plzen for 3.3 million euros fell through after he failed medical tests, opening the door for Hapoel Tel Aviv to secure his transfer.

The deal was facilitated by a related transaction involving Luizao, where Red Star Belgrade owed payments for Luizao's transfer. Since not all payments were completed, Hapoel Tel Aviv offset part of the amount owed by Red Star against the fee for Aveso, effectively reducing the cash outlay. This financial arrangement smoothed the path for Aveso's arrival at Hapoel Tel Aviv.

The transfer highlights the competitive nature of Israeli clubs in acquiring promising talent and the complex financial dealings often involved in such deals.
