Hapoel Tel Aviv Nears Signing of Douglas Owusu After Medical Clearance

Douglas Owusu, the 20-year-old Ghanaian winger currently with Red Star Belgrade, has passed his medical tests in Serbia and is set to sign with Hapoel Tel Aviv as a replacement for Louizos Louizo. The transfer fee is reported to be 2.2 million euros. Owusu, valued at 4.5 million euros by Transfermarkt, joined Red Star in January for the same amount after previously playing for Serbian club Radnik.

Owusu was close to transferring to Viktoria Plzen last summer for 3.3 million euros but failed the medical exam, which halted the move. He has also attracted interest from other major Israeli clubs, including Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa, but Hapoel Tel Aviv secured the deal. Owusu, a left-footed right winger, has scored two goals and provided one assist since joining Red Star, with a total of nine goals in 33 appearances in the Serbian top league last season.

Louizos Louizo is reportedly sold to Red Star for a club-record 3.5 million euros, with Hapoel Tel Aviv set to receive 3 million euros net and retain 10% of any future sale. Owusu's arrival marks a direct swap in the opposite direction to Louizo's transfer. The signing is expected to be finalized soon as Owusu arrives in Israel.
