Ahmad Al-Rajoub Detained for 12 Days Over Lawyer Arbel Feldman's Murder in Rishon Lezion

Ahmad Al-Rajoub, a 23-year-old resident of Ramla, is the prime suspect in the murder of lawyer Arbel Feldman in Rishon Lezion yesterday. His detention was extended by 12 days during a court hearing. Al-Rajoub allegedly killed Feldman following a dispute over a compensation debt. Feldman was working in his office when Al-Rajoub, known to him as a client, arrived demanding 15,000 shekels he claimed Feldman owed him. Shortly after, Al-Rajoub pulled out a gun and shot Feldman at least four times before fleeing and discarding the weapon, which remains missing. He later surrendered to the police in Ashdod.

During the hearing, police stated Al-Rajoub remained silent during interrogation, claiming to be psychiatric, and that the murder was premeditated due to the possession of an unlicensed firearm. Contrary to earlier reports, police confirmed the suspect has no prior criminal record. Defense attorney Oren Sasson questioned whether Al-Rajoub confessed upon surrender and raised concerns about the suspect’s mental state, noting he is unmedicated and struggles with anger. Sasson also mentioned recordings of conversations between Al-Rajoub and Feldman and said his client was a candidate for Border Police service.

Judge Eyal Cohen ruled there is reasonable suspicion against Al-Rajoub and extended his detention. Security footage released showed Al-Rajoub entering the building calmly before heading to Feldman’s office. Sasson explained the background of their relationship, stating Feldman had represented Al-Rajoub in a car accident compensation case three years ago, with the lawyer receiving the settlement funds before passing them to the client.

Feldman’s partner described hearing a brief conversation followed by gunshots, then seeing Al-Rajoub quickly leave the office. The partner found Feldman bleeding under his desk and immediately called emergency services. He described Feldman as a humble, gentle man devoted to his family, who was planning a vacation abroad with his wife and children. The partner expressed shock, emphasizing Feldman had only mentioned a client who was bothering him, with no indication of criminal involvement.
