Israeli Singer Yoav Eliasi and Police Officers Investigated for Alleged Favoritism to Nightclub

The Israeli Police Investigations Department (Mahash) announced on Wednesday that singer Yoav Eliasi, known as "HaTzel" (The Shadow), and three police officers are under investigation for allegedly granting police leniency to a nightclub owned by Eliasi's brother. The three officers, including an intelligence coordinator, are suspected of breach of trust. The investigation also includes testimonies from other involved parties and is ongoing.

Following the interrogations, all four suspects were released under restrictive conditions. The police officers were suspended from police facilities for three days, while Eliasi was suspended for a week. The case emerged after allegations surfaced that police connections were used to influence authorities' treatment of the nightclub.

No indictments have been filed yet, and all suspects maintain their presumption of innocence until proven guilty in court. About a week prior, it was reported that Eliasi stepped down from his role as commander of the Tel Aviv District readiness unit. However, according to reports, Eliasi himself requested to suspend his police volunteer service pending the investigation, rather than being dismissed by the police commissioner. His lawyers confirmed that the suspension was voluntary and that the matter will be handled through formal procedures.
