Israeli Police Officer Investigated Over Alleged Misconduct in Yoav Eliasi Dismissal Case

The Israeli Police Investigations Department (Mahash) has questioned a police officer holding the rank of Chief Superintendent under caution on suspicion of breach of trust. This inquiry is part of the ongoing investigation into the dismissal of Yoav Eliasi, known as "HaTzel," from his role as commander of the rapid response unit in the Tel Aviv district. Following the interrogation, the officer was released with conditions including a ban on entering police facilities and a prohibition on contacting involved parties for ten days. The investigation remains active.

The allegations suggest the officer acted to advance Eliasi's interests at a club in which Eliasi is a partner. Central to the case is an internal investigation that uncovered a recording of Eliasi boasting about how his connections helped prevent the closure of the venue. This evidence has raised concerns about potential misconduct and favoritism within the police force.
