8-day-old baby dies shortly after circumcision in the Benjamin region
A baby boy died on Friday in the Benjamin Regional Council area after collapsing shortly after his circumcision ceremony. He lost consciousness soon after the brit, was rushed to hospital in critical condition, and doctors were unable to save him.
Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital said the infant arrived on Friday night with no pulse while resuscitation efforts were still underway by Magen David Adom. The pediatric emergency team continued the attempts at the hospital, but ultimately pronounced him dead. The hospital said, "We share in the family's sorrow."
The incident took place in Ma'ale Mikhmas, in the Mateh Binyamin region. It was reported as the second tragedy of the weekend in the same source, after the earlier death of a 3-year-old child from a violent bacterial infection at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv.
