Eight-day-old infant dies after circumcision, cause under review
An eight-day-old baby died on Friday at Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital in Jerusalem, the hospital said on Saturday. The child’s parents, residents of N'vei Arz in the Binyamin area, said the death came shortly after the circumcision ceremony, which took place Friday at noon.
According to the report, the infant was rushed to the hospital Friday evening while resuscitation efforts were already underway. Doctors in the pediatric emergency department continued the attempts to revive him, but were ultimately forced to declare him dead.
The National Institute of Forensic Medicine is examining whether the death was connected to the circumcision. No conclusion has yet been announced, and the circumstances remain under investigation.
