Eight-day-old infant dies at Jerusalem hospital

Hadassah Mount Scopus Medical Center in Jerusalem said on Saturday evening that an 8-day-old baby was brought there the previous night without a pulse, while medical staff were already attempting resuscitation. Those efforts continued after arrival, including by the pediatric emergency department team, but the hospital said it was ultimately forced to pronounce the infant dead.

The report also noted another recent pediatric emergency in Israel. Earlier this month, a 4-month-old infant was evacuated in serious condition to Shamir-Assaf Harofeh Medical Center after being left in a closed car in the Sdot Dan Regional Council area.

According to Magen David Adom, the call came in at 3:08 p.m., and paramedics from its motorcycle unit were dispatched to the scene. They said they found the baby conscious only in a limited way and hot to the touch after spending a prolonged time inside the sealed vehicle.

The medics said they evacuated the child to the hospital in severe and unstable condition.
