Eight-day-old infant dies after circumcision in Benjamin area
An eight-day-old baby was rushed on Friday evening to Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital in Jerusalem after undergoing a circumcision in one of the communities of the Mateh Binyamin Regional Council. The infant arrived without a pulse, and Magen David Adom crews were already performing resuscitation efforts on the way to the hospital.
Despite continued attempts to revive him in the emergency pediatric department, doctors were forced to pronounce the baby dead.
Police were informed about the incident and opened a review into the circumstances. The cause of the medical emergency was not stated in the report.
Hadassah Mount Scopus said, "An 8-day-old infant was brought to the hospital without a pulse during resuscitation attempts by MDA. Resuscitation efforts continued at the hospital by the pediatric emergency team, but the staff had to declare his death. We extend our condolences to the family."
