Brazilian Bungee Jump Turns Deadly After Safety Cord Was Not Attached
A 24-year-old woman died during a bungee jump in São Paulo, Brazil, after she was thrown from a height of about 35 meters without being properly connected to the safety equipment, CNN Brazil reported. Witnesses recorded the incident and can be heard screaming in the video when they realized she had been dropped from the bridge without a safety line.
According to the account in the article, the guides from the operator, Entre Cordas, understood the mistake only too late and then stood motionless for a long moment. Once they realized the cord had not been attached, they tried to leave the scene.
Police later detained them, but no arrests had been made at the time of reporting. The operators’ attempted escape and the fatal failure to secure the jumper are central to the investigation.
