Israeli Youth Meir Shaar Released for Burial After Fatal ATV Accident Near Neve Erez

After an intensive overnight operation, the identification process for 21-year-old Meir Shaar, who died in an ATV accident near Neve Erez, was completed, allowing his release for burial. Shaar, a student at Ponovezh Yeshiva from Bnei Brak, tragically passed away following the overturning of the ATV in an open area near Ma'ale Makhmesh. The accident occurred just a week after his engagement.

A friend of Shaar, also 21 and from Beitar Illit, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital in Jerusalem. Shaar's funeral is scheduled for Tuesday at 12:00 PM, starting from his family home on Norok Street 32 in Bnei Brak and proceeding to the Ponovezh cemetery.

The legal department of ZAKA, in cooperation with Rabbi Asher Landau of the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Rabbi Shneir Almaliach from the legal department, and ZAKA district commander Gil Bismut, worked closely with all relevant parties to expedite the identification and release process. Michael Gutwein, head of ZAKA's legal department, emphasized the complex and often unseen efforts involved in releasing bodies for burial, highlighting their commitment to respecting the deceased and supporting families during difficult times.
