21-Year-Old Yeshiva Student Meir Shaar Dies in Off-Road Vehicle Accident Near Neve Erez

Meir Shaar, a 21-year-old student from Ponovezh Yeshiva who recently got engaged, died in an off-road vehicle (RZR) rollover near the settlement of Neve Erez in the Binyamin region. The accident occurred on Monday afternoon while Shaar and another young man, both Haredi, were traveling together in the vehicle under circumstances still under investigation. Shaar was found unconscious, without pulse or breathing, suffering from multiple injuries. Despite emergency medical efforts, his death was declared at the scene. The second passenger, also 21, was conscious and sustained minor limb injuries; he was taken to Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital in stable condition.

Shaar had recently registered for marriage with his fiancée just last week. His father is a rabbi and educator at the Derech HaTorah Yeshiva in Kiryat Herzog, Bnei Brak, and serves as the gabbai of the Netivot Shalom synagogue of the Yemenite community in the city. ZAKA volunteers from the Binyamin region handled the scene with respect and prepared for burial. Paramedics Nadav Taib and Oria Zagman reported their efforts to save Shaar and treat the other passenger.

The investigation into the cause of the rollover is ongoing.
