Yeshiva Student Meir Shaar Dies in ATV Rollover Near Neve Erez

Meir Shaar, a 21-year-old yeshiva student from Bnei Brak, died Monday evening after an ATV (all-terrain vehicle) overturned in an open area near the settlement of Neve Erez, close to Ma'ale Mikhmas in the West Bank. Shaar, who was engaged at the time, sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His companion, also 21 and from Beitar Illit, suffered minor injuries and was taken by Magen David Adom ambulance to Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital in Jerusalem.

The two Haredi young men were riding the ATV together when it flipped under circumstances that remain unclear. Emergency responders, including paramedics and volunteers from United Hatzalah, arrived promptly and attempted resuscitation on Shaar, who was found without pulse or breathing. Despite their efforts, his death was confirmed on site.

This tragic accident adds to a series of severe incidents during the "bein hazmanim" period, the break between yeshiva study sessions. Earlier, a Haredi toddler drowned, and a 16-year-old boy recently drowned in a pool and remains in critical condition. The community has been urged to pray for those affected during this difficult time.
