Israeli Yeshiva Student Meir Shaar Dies in ATV Accident One Week After Engagement

A tragic accident claimed the life of 21-year-old Meir Shaar, a distinguished student from the Ponovezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak, who died in an ATV rollover near the settlement of Neve Erez. Shaar had become engaged just a week prior and was in the midst of wedding preparations when the fatal incident occurred. The accident was reported around 19:35, and emergency medical teams found Shaar without signs of life, confirming his death at the scene. His body was later transferred to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute for identification procedures.

ZAKA representatives, including Asaf Baruchi and Baruch Zakbach from the Benjamin region, described the difficult scene where the overturned ATV was found and noted their respectful handling of the deceased and evidence collection for burial. Moti Bokchin, ZAKA spokesperson, highlighted that this tragedy follows another recent fatality during the "bein hazmanim" period, when a two-year-old child drowned in a pool in the Shdot Mikha settlement. Bokchin urged the public to exercise extreme caution during this time, which is marked by increased outdoor activities and travel.
