Jerusalem Yeshiva Student Critically Injured in Severe Car Crash in New York Ahead of Wedding
Meir Pinchas Ben Hadas Esther, a Jerusalem yeshiva student from the "Oriyta" yeshiva, suffered critical injuries in a head-on car collision in Kiryat Joel, New York, during the early hours between Sunday and Monday this week. The young man, who is scheduled to marry in the Hebrew month of Av, was a passenger in a taxi that collided violently with another vehicle at the intersection of Orange and Rockland roads and Route 208 within the Hasidic enclave.
Due to the severity of the crash, emergency responders including volunteers from Kiryat Joel Hatzalah, Monroe fire and medical teams, and New York State Police arrived at the scene, which involved multiple casualties with varying injury levels. Meir Pinchas was found in critical condition with immediate medical collapse and was given intensive life-saving treatment on-site before being airlifted by medical helicopter to Westchester University Hospital. He remains sedated and intubated in the intensive care unit with a critical prognosis. Another seriously injured victim was also evacuated by helicopter.
The incident has deeply shocked Meir Pinchas’s family, friends, and the wider Jerusalem community, who have gathered for prayers and called on the public to recite Psalms for his recovery. Authorities in New York have launched a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. The community hopes Meir Pinchas will recover in time to stand under the wedding canopy as planned.
