Hapoel Tel Aviv Basketball Nears 19-Player Roster with New Guard Eugene German Signed

Hapoel Tel Aviv announced the signing of American guard Eugene German for the upcoming basketball season, completing their foreign backcourt alongside Vasa Micić, Tomas Satoransky, Elijah Bryant, and Antonio Blakeney. German, known for his scoring ability and one-on-one skills, is expected to fit well into coach Itoudis's isolation-heavy playing style. Despite his shorter stature, the coaching staff believes German can earn their trust through performance on the court.

German is the tenth confirmed foreign player on Hapoel's roster. Tyler Ennis is also signed but the club is seeking to loan him out due to foreign player limits and a crowded EuroLeague roster. The team is actively searching for an additional foreign big man to complement Dan Otero, Zack LeDay, Tai Odiase, and Jacob Topin. This addition is seen as crucial to provide depth, especially in case of injuries to key players.

If the 11th foreign player is signed, Hapoel's roster will total 19 players, including eight Israelis. Among them is Yiftach Ziv, who has permission to leave but has yet to find a new team. The club is also awaiting news on Tamir Blatt's future to finalize his signing and potential loan. With recent additions and the possibility of Max Heidegger joining, competition for EuroLeague playing time among Israeli players is expected to be very limited, with most likely only participating in the domestic league.

A club insider emphasized the depth and competition within the team, noting that even before any further signings, playing time in the EuroLeague is unlikely for many Israeli players due to the crowded roster and the arrival of new foreign talent.
