Eugene German Signs One-Year Deal with Hapoel Tel Aviv Basketball Team

Hapoel Tel Aviv officially announced the signing of 27-year-old guard Eugene German on August 1, 2026. German, who stands 1.82 meters tall, joins the Israeli Premier League club as the third point guard behind Vasilije Micić and Thomas Satoransky. He played last season in the Chinese Basketball Association, averaging 18.3 points per game with a 40.1% three-point shooting percentage and 4.8 assists. German’s career includes four years at Northern Illinois University, followed by stints in the Greek and Turkish leagues, and four of the past five seasons in China. He also played eight games in Puerto Rico’s league, averaging 17.4 points and 4.5 assists.

This move marks German’s first time competing in the EuroLeague, where he will back up Micić and Satoransky, who also joined Hapoel Tel Aviv this summer. German signed a one-year contract worth $750,000, with the club holding a monthly opt-out option starting in December. This signing strengthens Hapoel Tel Aviv, the reigning Israeli league runners-up coached by Dimitris Itoudis, as they prepare for the upcoming season.
