Hapoel Tel Aviv Signs Guard Eugene German for EuroLeague Debut

Hapoel Tel Aviv officially announced the signing of 27-year-old guard Eugene German, who played last season in the Chinese basketball league. German, standing 1.82 meters tall, will serve as the third point guard behind Vasilije Micić and Tomas Satoransky, both key players for the Israeli club coached by Dimitris Itoudis. German’s contract is for one year with Hapoel Tel Aviv holding a monthly opt-out option starting December. He will earn $750,000 for the season.

German’s basketball journey includes four years at Northern Illinois University, followed by professional stints in Greece, Turkey with Merkezefendi, and China where he spent four of the last five seasons. In China, he averaged 18.3 points per game with a 40.1% three-point shooting rate and 4.8 assists. He also played eight games in Puerto Rico’s Indios de Mayagüez, averaging 17.4 points and 4.5 assists per game.

This move marks a significant step up for German as he will compete in the EuroLeague for the first time, joining a strong Hapoel Tel Aviv roster that recently added Satoransky. The signing was first reported by Sport 5 and confirmed by the club on August 1, 2026.
