Three-year-old dies at Ichilov after contracting aggressive bacterial infection
A 3-year-old boy died Saturday morning at Ichilov Medical Center after contracting a virulent bacterial infection. The hospital said he arrived at the emergency department in septic shock, with a clinical suspicion of meningococcemia.
Despite the medical team’s efforts and repeated resuscitation attempts, doctors were unable to save him and pronounced him dead. The case was reported by the hospital as a fatal infection-related emergency.
Ichilov also stressed that there is a vaccine against meningococcal B, which the Israeli Pediatric Association recommends. In a public statement, the hospital urged parents to vaccinate infants and toddlers, saying it can save lives.
