Three-Year-Old Dies at Ichilov After Severe Bacterial Infection
A 3-year-old boy died at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv after developing septic shock and a clinical suspicion of meningococcemia, a deadly form of sepsis caused by an aggressive bacterium. The child was brought to the Dana Children’s Hospital unit at Ichilov, where doctors attempted resuscitation but were unable to save him.
The hospital said there is a vaccine against meningococcal B that is recommended by the Israeli Pediatric Association. In a statement, it urged the public to vaccinate infants and toddlers, saying this could save lives.
